Trance

A natural state of focused inward attention and relaxation, closely resembling the twilight state between waking and sleeping.

What is a Trance?

A trance is a natural state of focused, inward attention. Peripheral sensory awareness fades as the mind absorbs itself in internal experience. During trance, the unconscious mind becomes uniquely receptive to learning, healing, and positive transformation.

Everyday Occurrence

Trance states are not artificial constructs. The human brain naturally shifts into light trance multiple times a day—such as during daydreaming, becoming absorbed in a compelling book, or experiencing "highway hypnosis" on a long drive.

Personal Perspective by Jan Mion (Hypnotherapist): "The hypnotic trance state is closest to a familiar everyday experience: the state between waking and sleeping in bed (known in German as Halbschlaf).

That trance is a biological, innate capability is shown by an example almost everyone recognizes: the sudden twitching of the body when falling asleep. This 'hypnic jerk' is a classic ideomotor trance phenomenon. It clearly demonstrates how your unconscious mind takes over bodily responses as conscious control relaxes."

Therapeutic Application

In therapy, we do not invent an artificial state; we simply direct your brain's natural capacity for trance intentionally toward your personal goals.
